NASA s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., will host the 19th annual High-Tech Conference for Small Business on March 6 and 7, at the Radisson Hotel near Los stanley termosky Angeles International Airport. The two-day conference will focus on subcontracting and marketing opportunities for small, minority, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses in high-tech industries. It includes several how-to workshops featuring information on major programs, small business initiatives and other topics. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with approximately 250 corporate, federal, state and city government representatives to discuss potential contracting and subcontracting opportunities. One-on-one counseling to discuss potential business opportunities is available with more than 100 exhibitors. It an award that comes with great respect and a big payoutmdash;$625,000 paid over five years. But for the author of Citizen: An American Lyric, the honor feels like it as much for herself as it is for her subject: race relations in America.
